Explore high-quality yarns and crafts by Silver Hand Artist, a Certified Tribal Artist and the Great-Great-Grand-Daughter of Chief Shakes VII, who creates the essence of Alaskan stories through her unique fiber art.
I’m a Silver Hand Artist and Certified Tribal Artist. I design, dye yarns, and create fiber art that showcases ancient tribal designs rarely seen or used, all while employing contemporary methods and materials. My journey began with the aspiration to keep my tribe’s cultural art and designs alive, so I crafted versatile patterns that can transform into various items suitable for everyday wear. Typically, regalia is worn only by tribal members during performances and ceremonies. However, by incorporating these ancient tribal designs into daily fashion, their cultural significance grows, as they will be worn, seen, and appreciated by a wider audience.
I developed my own two-color brioche patterns, chosen randomly as I knit, ensuring that each two-color brioche fiber art piece is unique and cannot be replicated.
This fiber art is made by hand, carrying forward Alaskan stories, and it’s meant to be shared with you...
